Paul is the Chief Executive Officer at The Advantage Companies.

Paul started the Advantage Companies in 2003 to service the records management needs of the Cedar Rapids & Iowa City communities. To compliment the records management business, Paul worked to assemble a qualified team of information management professionals, and imaging specialists. The two separate business units became known as Advantage Information Managements Solutions and Advantage Records Management. Although each business unit had individual goals and business models, they are symbiotic in nature, and share a common mission.

Chris Donohue

Chief Financial Officer

Chris has been the Chief Financial Officer at The Advantage Companies since 2010. Chris has over 20 years of business experience, most of which comes from the manufacturing and document imaging industries.

Chris graduated from Simpson College in 1994 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Accounting. Chris played baseball at Simpson and served as Team Captain his senior year.

When not at work, Chris spends time with his wife and 3 children and is an avid runner having run half-marathons in the past.

Jeffery Kiley

Chief Operating Officer

Jeffrey Kiley is the COO of The Advantage Companies and was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he still lives with his family.

Jeff has a passion for history; specifically the history contained in the pages of old newspapers.
As an Iowan, he believes that the preservation of our collective history is a shared responsibility. He wants other like-minded Iowans to join the State Historical Society of Iowa and the Advantage Companies in their mission to ensure that Iowa’s “first draft of history” is available for current and future generations.

Derek Fiscus

Digital Assets & Preservation

Derek is responsible for the digital assets and presentation of such through our custom developed web portals. Derek has been involved in digital preservation of documents since 2004, with over 200 million documents processed under his detailed care.

His technical experience ranges from Scanning and OCR software through web development and Enterprise level Search Engine and Database development and maintenance.

When not obsessing over the care of the documents in his care, Derek can be found at a local CrossFit Gym or at home cooking and spending time with his family of 4.

Lenny Ague

Project Manager

Lenny has 11 years experience in the scanning and document managment industry. He has established procedures to maximize production efficiencies and has utilized a variety of scanning and data capturing software. He has managed processes that include prepping, scanning, quality control, and both in-house and off-shore indexing. Clients include Healthcare, Finance, Manufacturing, Bio Tech, Government, Law Firms, and Education.Lenny has coordinated several coding projects. He has worked with clients and internal team members to establish documentation to allow for efficient, accuracy and consistency objective coding and subjective coding. Lenny has built coding teams to meet the client’s expectations for product delivery and costs. He has managed multiple levels of legal coders with various legal skills and backgrounds.

Jeff Brown

Manager - Advantage Preservation

Jeff currently manages the Preservation Sales and Production teams at The Advantage Companies as well as consulting on all Iowa preservation needs. Jeff has been in the Newspaper Preservation Industry for over 12 years. Working in the Newspaper Preservation Industry allows Jeff to utilize his History degree and his Economics degree from Cornell College as well as fuel his interest in Genealogical research.

Jeff is an expert in Microfilming Historical Newspapers or Documents on 35 mm Silver Halide (ANSI and AIIMS specifications). You can expect a fast turnaround time for your microfilm as most projects take no longer than 30 days for us to complete and ship the film.

Shar Melsha

Shar Melsha has over twenty two years of experience in providing document management solutions. In 2003 Shar and several partners formed The Advantage Companies a provider of document management solutions. Shar was responsible for sales for the Advantage Information Management Solutions (AIMS) which converted paper, microfilm, and microfiche to digital images and paper documents to microfilm. She has signed several Fortune 500 companies as clients delivering a vast array of solutions to Healthcare, Manufacturing, Insurance, Investment and Financial institutions.

Doug Boddicker

IT Director

As the manager of The Advantage Companies IT group, Doug has numerous responsibilities and duties, both for the business units and for our clients.

Doug designs, maintains and supports on-site scanning projects both small (single workstation) and large (multiple workstations within a network environment) as well as our production operation. Doug has specific knowledge of the setup and maintenance for a variety of “On-Site” situations.

Doug’s ability to work both independently and as part of the team is a part of the success of our Litigation Support team that assists in creating exhibits, electronic labeling and performing blow-backs request for those same exhibits.

Wayne Brown
