August 16th, 1977 – Today marks the 40th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death. On this day in 1977, fans gathered to mourn outside of Graceland. The King of Rock n’ Roll was pronounced dead of heart failure after collapsing on the bathroom floor of his Memphis, Tennessee home.
The circumstances surrounding Elvis’ death and subsequent news coverage was not well received by fans as reports of drug abuse surfaced.
